I look forward to doing some very interesting things with the various students that I will see this year. We will explore measurements of mass, volume, density, etc.. We will explore our solar system and the Universe. We will, hopefully, have the opportunity to dissect various organisms (rats, fetal pigs, etc.). Force, motion and gravity will also be areas that we will investigate.
As students learn to focus and are disciplined with their behavior, more exploration will occur in the lab and in the classroom.
It will be very important for your child to keep a good notebook. Practically every day there should be some entry made in the notebooks. Most Fridays, students will be given a form of assessment (quiz /test). Students will also have lab reports that will need to be submitted based on the activities that occur in the lab. All of the students have been provided with the rubric for guidance. If your child scores a low grade (below 70%) on the lab report it is most likely because he/she did not keep good notes during the lab activity or he/she did not follow the rubric.
