Density (8th graders)

Density is the amount of mass of a substance in a given volume. For example, if you have 3 grams (g) of a substance with a volume of 6 cm3 (or cubic centimeters), the density is D = M / V.

In this case, the density (D) = Mass of 3 grams / divided by a volume (V) of 6 cm3. The density would then be equal to 0.5g / cm3.
